- Regions Bank appointed Scott Peters to serve as chief transformation officer and oversee the bank’s multi-year initiative to replace its core operating systems, according to a press release Thursday.
- Peters most recently served as the head of Region’s Consumer Banking Group. To fill that vacancy the firm selected another insider, Kate Danella, who will lead retail banking.
- Regions announced the appointments of Peters and Danella shortly after the bank hired Dan Massey away from Truist earlier this month, to serve as Region’s chief enterprise operations and technology officer.

Birmingham, Alabama-based Regions Bank is shuffling its C-suite in preparation to overhaul its core banking operations with new technology the firm said will redefine its customer experience.
“Regions Bank is already known for providing superior service through our network of consumer, commercial, and wealth management bankers, as well as our digital banking capabilities,” said John Turner, president and CEO of Regions, in the press release. “Now, we are taking a fundamental step forward by rapidly evolving our processes and technology to create more forward-thinking solutions in a nimble and agile manner. The result will be even higher levels of customer service and business growth across convenient and connected channels.”
As chief transformation officer, Peters will spearhead the regional bank’s transition to new core operating systems, which will allow the bank to offer an enhanced customer experience, including in-person interactions and self-service solutions, according to the press release.
Peters has worked at Regions since 2004. Prior to joining Regions in 2004, Peters served in leadership roles at Fidelity Personal Investments, KeyCorp and CitiBank.
Peters headed Regions’ consumer banking unit when the bank announced its first checking account without fees for overdraft or insufficient funds in October.
He will hand over the reins of the company’s retail banking business to Danella, who previously served as chief strategy and client experience officer for Regions. Danella joined the bank in 2015, and previously held leadership positions at Capital Group Companies.
Earlier in May, Regions announced it was bringing aboard Dan Massey to serve as the company’s new chief enterprise operations and technology officer, effective May 9. The bank hired Massey from Truist, where he most recently served as executive vice president and head of digital and contact center banking, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Massey worked for almost 30 years at Truist Bank and one the firm’s predecessors, SunTrust Bank.
Peters, Danella and Massey will each report to Turner in their new roles.
